Together Forever With a Sterling Silver Celtic Knot Ring

!±8± Together Forever With a Sterling Silver Celtic Knot Ring

The title of this article is very appropriate due to the popularity of the sterling silver celtic knot ring for wedding rings. The design, the use of silver, and its popularity have historical significance, especially in Ireland. Nothing can be more interesting than a thing of beauty and substance, which probably accounts to the ring's popularity among couples who have decided to tie the knot.

Historically, it all began in the 7th century and was just an artform for the monks at that time. It then evolved into an expression of love and strength. Today, the sterling silver celtic knot ring symbolizes long-lasting love. Amazingly, by just taking a close look, you seem to see where it starts or end. It just goes on and on, forever, something we aim for in our marriage.

The sterling silver celtic knot ring is also known as a "forget me not ring". The ring's design represents eternal love, which means love even beyond the grave. It may be creepy? Not at all, people who are romantically inclined actually toy with the idea of keeping the relationship intact forever. It doesn't mean living with a dead loved one but more of having him/her eternally remembered. Wearing a "forget me not ring" keeps memories of your loved ones alive.

Nothing can express love and dedication better other than a sterling silver celtic knot ring, and internalizing on what the design implies: a commitment to love eternally, a promise to cherish and to pledge your loyalty to the person you are tying the knot with.

Start Collecting - Vintage Kramer Costume Jewelry

!±8± Start Collecting - Vintage Kramer Costume Jewelry

Perhaps less well known than the more abundant Coro, Trifari or Napier costume jewelry, Kramer costume jewelry often used rare or unique stones in their jewelry. First, a brief history: Between 1943 and 1980, Kramer Jewelry Creations was a family run business that produced some of the finest high-end costume jewelry. In the 1950s and '60s, Kramer manufactured Christian Dior designs, so finding a piece of Christian Dior by Kramer is a rare but rewarding treat. The Dior pieces often used good quality clear rhinestones with larger blue or green center stones. Christian Dior designs can command higher prices due to the Dior name, but the Kramer quality and designs are just as wonderful as those without the name.

Unfortunately for the collector, much Kramer jewelry from the '50s and '60s was unmarked and had only a paper tag attached to identify it. If you do see a signature, it will most likely be "Kramer", "Kramer of N.Y." or "Kramer of New York. Look for the signature on the clip of an earring, or on the clasp of a necklace or bracelet. Other marks include the rare "Amourelle" from 1963, and "Kramer Sterling" which may or may not date from the WWII years when sterling silver was used in jewelry in place of other metals that were needed for the war effort. Kramer jewelry is famous for its quality, and for the use of vibrantly colored rhinestones with creative settings. Radiant red and orange, striking dark blue, glowing topaz, and elegant black rhinestones, along with plastic decorations, gave Kramer jewelry great variety and style.

For the collector, I think a great place to look for vintage Kramer jewelry is at estate sales. If you haven't tried it, this is a wonderful way to shop for vintage items of any kind. Check your newspaper and Craigslist for weekly listings of estate sales in your area, and sign up for the agent's email mailing list for future sales. Often sales in older neighborhoods will have vintage costume jewelry for sale. Tip: On the last day of the estate sale items may be marked 50% off. The selection is best at the beginning of the sale, of course, but the best prices can be found towards the end.

As with any collectible costume jewelry, it's important to be prepared: Bring a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe with you to check the condition of the piece. If you're buying for your own collection, and not for investment purposes, you may be more flexible with condition flaws. If it's for investment, it must be flawless. Do you like the piece? Will you wear it or display it or just store it away to be admired from time to time? If the piece is signed by the designer that increases its value. Is the original box or tag included? Again, increased value is there.

Whatever your reasons, and just the simple enjoyment of having beautiful vintage jewelry is more than enough, become educated, do research, ask questions, and you'll soon be able to spot vintage Kramer, or other designer costume jewelry to add to your collection.

Popularity of Sterling Silver Rings Over Gold

!±8± Popularity of Sterling Silver Rings Over Gold

Most people become slightly puzzled when selecting rings. It's like a crossroad wherein they are undecided which path to choose, the silvery path or the golden way. Contrary to what is traditional, most individuals whether seniors or teens, rich or not, are choosing sterling silver rings. I would say that sterling silver has reached the pinnacle of its popularity in the last two years, so much so that people from all walks of life are seen donning them. There are quite a few reasons why the choice of sterling silver over gold, which is the symbol of prosperity, is quite prevalent these days.

For one, sterling silver is very reasonably priced. Comparing silver against gold you will be amazed that it is more often one-fourth of the more expensive piece. I once bought a ring for my sister who was turning 18, I wanted to buy a simple wrap around ring for her and scouted for one over the Internet. I found one 14k yellow gold with a tag price of 7 and an exact replica was also being sold that only costs . Your guess is as good as mine I purchased the sterling silver instead of the gold one, but the amazing thing is that I was able to buy her a set. What did I get: earrings, necklace, ring, bangles with matching designs for just 7, all of these cheaper than one gold ring.

Aside from being significantly cheaper than the original gold, sterling silver has designs that are more contemporary and trendy. Again probably due to the low production cost these jewelries are being seen in all shapes and sizes. The designs you can find always come in droves as compared to the limited options in gold. In reality your imagination is your limit when looking for the design in a sterling silver store which you won't readily find in a gold store and you would probably order from the jeweler to custom made your gold design.

Finally the most prevalent of reason why people prefer sterling silver over gold jewelry is that you appear to be trendy and modern if you are wearing silver jewelries. Its chic to be wearing multiple sterling silver rings on the fingers of one hand but you will be branded as flamboyant and a show off if you do it with gold rings. Wouldn't you rather be called chic and cool instead of pompously rich?
